Terms and conditions

Last updated on 5 October 2026

These terms apply to everyone who uses Carinido: people looking for help and people offering it. First there’s a short summary of the main points; the terms themselves follow.

In short

  • Carinido brings people together. The agreement about the babysitting or pet care is one you make with each other, not with us.
  • Searching, sending messages and creating a profile are free. Anyone who books pays a service fee on top of the rate. The sitter keeps the full rate.
  • You pay in advance. The sitter gets the money afterwards.
  • Cancelling is free up to 24 hours before the start.
  • We check what we can, but you decide for yourself who you let into your home and whose home you go into.

Who we are and what we do

Carinido is a platform run by Carinido. Through carinido.com, parents find a babysitter and pet owners find a pet sitter or dog walker near them. Here, we call anyone looking for help the parent or pet owner. We call anyone offering help the sitter.

We are not a sitter agency and not an employer. A booking is an agreement between the parent or pet owner and the sitter. We make that agreement possible: we show profiles, handle the payment and look into it if something goes wrong. We are not a party to the agreement about the babysitting or pet care itself.

Your account

  • You are 18 or over.
  • You enter your own, correct details and keep them up to date.
  • You have one account and don’t share your login details with anyone.
  • You are responsible for what happens with your account. If you suspect misuse, let us know straight away.

An account is personal. A business that offers services through Carinido does so using the account of a person who is allowed to act on behalf of that business.

For sitters

As a sitter, you set your own rate and availability and decide which requests you accept. You work for yourself, not for us.

  • What’s on your profile is true: your experience, your qualifications and what you do and don’t do.
  • You keep your commitments. If you really can’t make it, you cancel as early as possible.
  • You take good care of the children and animals entrusted to you and follow the instructions of the parent or pet owner.
  • You don’t bring anyone with you and don’t let someone else do the work, unless you’ve agreed this with the parent or pet owner.
  • You are allowed to do this work in the country where you do it.
  • You take care of your own taxes and insurance. What you earn is income that you declare yourself.

To get paid, you go through the identity check run by our payment partner Stripe. If you look after children, you can upload a certificate of conduct; once we’ve checked it, this is shown on your profile.

The law may require us to pass on details of what you earn through the platform to the tax authorities.

A business can also be a provider, such as a dog-walking service, a babysitting agency or a tutoring centre. The business then appears on the profile under its own name and registration number, is responsible for the people it sends and makes sure they meet the same requirements as a provider who works for themselves. The rule that you do not pass the work on to someone else then applies to people outside the business.

For parents and pet owners

  • You give honest information about your children, your pet and your home: allergies, medication, behaviour and everything a sitter needs to know to do the job well.
  • You make sure the environment is safe and that you can be reached during the booking.
  • Your pet is healthy enough for the booking. You mention it if it may react with fear or aggression.

You decide who you book. Read the profile and the reviews, ask questions through the chat and, if you’re in doubt, arrange to meet first.

What we check, and what we don’t

A profile can show these badges:

  • ID checked: Stripe has verified the sitter’s identity.
  • Phone confirmed: the number has been confirmed with a code sent by text message.
  • Certificate of conduct checked: we have looked at an uploaded certificate. We assess the document as it was submitted and can’t guarantee that it is genuine.

Other details, such as experience, a first aid certificate or a fenced garden, are provided by the sitter themselves. Reviews come from parents and pet owners after a completed booking; we don’t write them and we don’t edit them.

These checks reduce the risk, but they don’t remove it. We don’t guarantee the behaviour, skills or reliability of any user.

Booking and paying

This is how a booking works:

  1. The parent or pet owner sends a request with the service, the date and time, and the details. You can book up to 90 days ahead.
  2. The sitter accepts or declines the request.
  3. Once the request is accepted, the parent or pet owner pays. Only then is the booking confirmed. If nothing has been paid by the start time, the request expires.
  4. We hold the amount until after the booking.
  5. Afterwards, the parent or pet owner confirms that the booking took place. If the parent or pet owner does nothing and no problem has been reported, we pay out automatically 48 hours after the booking ends.

The parent or pet owner pays the sitter’s rate plus our service fee. The total is shown with the request, before you send it. The Pricing page shows how much the service fee is. The sitter receives the full rate; we don’t deduct anything from it.

Payments go through Stripe. Anyone who receives payouts also agrees to Stripe’s terms for this.

The protection in these terms only applies to bookings paid through Carinido. If you arrange things outside the platform or pay each other directly, we can’t refund anything and can’t mediate.

Cancelling

As long as nothing has been paid, the parent or pet owner and the sitter can both cancel a request free of charge.

After payment, the following applies:

  • The parent or pet owner cancels 24 hours or more before the start: they get the full amount back.
  • The parent or pet owner cancels within 24 hours before the start: the sitter gets 50% of the rate, as compensation for the time that was kept free. The parent or pet owner gets the rest back, including the full service fee.
  • The sitter cancels: the parent or pet owner gets the full amount back.

From the start time, a booking can no longer be cancelled. If something went wrong, report a problem.

If a sitter repeatedly cancels at short notice, or doesn’t turn up, we can suspend the account.

If something goes wrong

If the sitter didn’t turn up or the booking didn’t go as agreed, the parent or pet owner can report a problem with the booking from the start time. This can be done until the amount has been paid out. The payout is then put on hold.

We respond within 2 working days. We ask both sides for their version of events and then decide whether the amount goes back to the parent or pet owner or goes to the sitter. That decision only covers the amount we are holding. Damage and other costs are for the parent or pet owner and the sitter to settle between themselves.

If there is immediate danger, call 112. If you suspect a criminal offence, report it to the police and tell us too.

Passes

With a pass, you pay no service fee on bookings for the label the pass covers: Kids, Pets or both. This applies to bookings you make while your pass is active. The prices are on the Pricing page.

A pass runs monthly or yearly and renews automatically. You cancel it in your account; the pass then continues until the end of the period you’ve paid for.

If you have a yearly pass and the first year is over, you can cancel at any time. You then get back the amount for the remaining full months.

If you take out a pass, you can withdraw from it within 14 days without giving a reason. If you’ve already booked without a service fee in that time, we may deduct those service fees from what you get back.

What’s not allowed

  • Using a name, photo or profile that isn’t your own.
  • Discriminating against, intimidating or threatening anyone, or sending messages of a sexual nature.
  • Collecting contact details or approaching users for anything other than a booking.
  • Buying or swapping reviews, or pressuring someone into writing one.
  • Using the platform for anything other than babysitting and pet care.
  • Using automated tools to read data from the platform, or disrupting it.

See something that isn’t right or isn’t allowed? Report it to hallo@carinido.com. We can remove messages, profiles and reviews that break these rules, and suspend accounts. If we suspend an account, we say why. If you disagree, email us; we’ll look at it again.

What you post

Your profile text, photos, messages and reviews remain yours. You give us permission to show and store them for as long as that is needed to make the platform work. Only post what is your own or what you’re allowed to use, and don’t post photos in which other people’s children can be recognised.

Our liability

We do our best to keep the platform safe and available, but we don’t promise that it will work at all times and without errors.

The agreement about the babysitting or pet care is between the parent or pet owner and the sitter. For any damage that occurs in the process, whether to people, animals or belongings, they are liable to each other and we are not. We don’t provide insurance ourselves. We advise both sides to have liability insurance and to check whether it covers this work.

If we are liable after all, we only compensate direct damage, up to the amount you paid us in service fees and for passes in the twelve months before that, with a minimum of €100. That limit doesn’t apply in cases of intent or gross negligence on our part, or where the law prohibits a limitation.

If you are a consumer, you always keep the rights the law gives you.

Closing your account

You can delete your account at any time in your settings. You can’t do that while a paid booking is still open. The privacy statement explains what then happens to your data.

We can suspend or close an account if someone breaks these terms, puts others in danger or misuses the platform. In that case, we deal with paid bookings that are still ongoing in line with these terms.

Changes

We can change these terms, for example if the platform changes or the law requires it. If a change is important, we’ll let you know by email at least 30 days in advance. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account. For bookings that have already been made, the terms that applied at the time of booking continue to apply.

Complaints, law and contact

Do you have a complaint about Carinido? Email hallo@carinido.com. You’ll get an initial response within 2 working days.

Dutch law applies to these terms. If you are a consumer living in another European Union country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country, and you can go to court there too.

These terms exist in several languages. If there are differences, the Dutch text prevails, unless the law in your country says otherwise.
